These are two lovely antique French photo frames featuring classic Louis XVI–style details and circular portrait openings. They were designed to display small photographs or portrait miniatures. Each frame features decorative gilt metal mounts and a silk mat surround, a detail commonly found in French frames of this period.
The larger of the two (gray one on the left, 6.75” x 8” tall) is especially decorative with a charming crest featuring birds and foliage. It has a small chip out of the edge and the silk mat is a bit ripped (but allows you to easily see that it is silk). The back has been repaired with a new foam core backing, but everything else is original.
The second frame (brown one on the right, 5.5” x 5.5”) features delicate wreath mounts in each corner. The silk has just a bit of staining, but it has a very old, original backing with a stand.
Both pieces have wonderful age and patina that add to their authentic antique character. Perfect for displaying a small photograph, antique portrait, or simply styling on a shelf, desk, or bedside table.
