Very Old French Vintage Farine/Flour Wall Box, c. Late 1880s, Wood
Vintage French flour canisters, often labeled 'Farine', were essential items in traditional French kitchens. These containers were used to store flour, a staple ingredient in French baking and cuisine. Typically made from wood, tin, or ceramic, they often feature stenciled lettering and decorative elements that reflect the era of their production.
This piece features a classic shaped backboard with hanging hole, rich dark patina, and original black stenciled lettering across the front. The worn surface, aged wood, and visible history give it the unmistakable character collectors seek in true French farmhouse pieces.
This one is in great condition, except the lid has come off (it needs a small rod to run through it). But the lid is present.
