Vintage French Toy/Sample Sewing Machine
When most people see these cute mini-versions of sewing machines, they assume that it was made as a toy. However, usually they were made for traveling salesmen so they could show customers the actual working product (albeit a smaller version)… lugging around a huge, heavy sewing machine of normal proportions wouldn’t be fun. They would then often be given to children as toys and for “practice”.
This one made in France by PB Standard is a great example. It was likely made in 1940s and the bird’s egg blue color is somewhat rare. It would be a great decor piece in a sunroom or sewing room. It is in great condition except it is missing the metal plate where you would lay the fabric.
