Antique French Cast Iron Wall Coat Rack | Belle Époque Porcelain Tipped Hooks | Acanthus Shell Motif
This is a French porte-manteau mural — a wall-mounted coat rack in all-iron construction, sourced from France and dating to the late 19th or very early 20th century. Four double-arm hooks are mounted to a flat tapered iron rail, each cast with an acanthus or shell motif at the bracket and finished with a rounded white porcelain tip. That detail — the glazed ceramic knob — was standard in quality French domestic ironwork of the Belle Époque: practical (it protected fine wool from snagging) and quietly elegant.
The iron has aged to a warm bronze-brown patina. The porcelain tips are intact and bright — the most common casualty on pieces like this, and these have survived.
