Antique French Brass Ceiling Rose, 7", Louis XV Floral Lighting Hardware, Architectural Salvage, c. 1900

This antique French ceiling rose—or rosace de plafond—was designed to sit above a chandelier or pendant light, concealing the suspension point while adding a final flourish of ornament to the ceiling.  New decorative brass canopies generally sell around $55–$70.

Cast in substantial brass or bronze, the openwork design features scrolling acanthus leaves, small flowers and a raised central boss with a threaded opening for the chandelier fitting. Its graceful Louis XV–inspired design is beautifully balanced by a deeply aged surface, with darkened brass, worn highlights and touches of natural green verdigris.

Dating to approximately 1880–1910, this is an authentic piece of French architectural and lighting history—not a modern reproduction.

Condition:

The ceiling rose retains its original aged surface, including tarnish, oxidation, verdigris, scratches, worn highlights and casting irregularities. Traces of old finish or residue are visible on the reverse. It has intentionally been left unpolished to preserve its authentic patina.

This listing is for the antique ceiling rose only. Chain, suspension hardware, wiring, light fixture and chandelier are not included. The installed photograph is a styled example showing how the piece could appear in use.
