Vintage French Souvenir de Lisieux Glass Jewelry Box - Antique-Style French Trinket Box, early 1900s
A tiny treasure from France.
This beautiful vintage French jewelry box is made of glass set within an ornate ormolu frame, complete with delicate decorative edging, tiny feet and a charming old image marked “Souvenir de Lisieux” beneath the glass lid.
Open the little clasp to reveal the softly aged fabric-lined interior — just the right size for a favorite ring, small brooch or other tiny keepsake. The timeworn finish, aged photograph and wonderful old-world details give it the sort of character that simply can't be reproduced in a new piece.
Lisieux, in Normandy, became an important French pilgrimage destination associated with Sainte-Thérèse, and this little box would have been created as a souvenir of a visit there. Today, it's a lovely piece of French history for a dressing table, bedside table or collection of antique French treasures.
Measurements: approximately 3.5" long × 2.25" deep × 2.75" tall.
As expected with an authentic vintage piece, there is age and patina throughout, including wear to the metalwork and interior.
