Antique French Ormolu Perfume Bottle, French Boudoir Decor, c.1900
A wonderfully decorative antique French glass bottle wrapped in elaborate ormolu mounts — the sort of small, beautiful object that once would have looked perfectly at home on a lady’s dressing table. The ormolu work is unusually elaborate for its size and it is in excellent condition for its age.
The heavy clear glass bottle is surrounded by richly detailed gilt metalwork, with flowers, foliage, grape clusters and a classical urn motif cascading down the front. Even the reverse is beautifully finished with a wide floral ormolu band.
At just 3.75" tall x 2" wide x 2" deep, it is a petite piece, but remarkably ornate. Lovely displayed on a vanity, tucked into a collection of antique perfume bottles, or simply sitting alone where all that tiny detail can be appreciated.
The glass and ormolu show the expected age and patina of an antique piece. No stopper is present.
